Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George suited up for Monday's game against the LA Clippers, marking his season debut.
George has missed the Sixers' first 12 games as he rehabilitated his offseason left knee surgery. Coming into Monday, Philadelphia is No. 6 in the Eastern Conference with a 7-5 record. They are coming off a 114-105 loss to the East-leading Detroit Pistons in NBA Cup action on Friday.

"Force this man to retire," one fan tweeted.@ShamsCharania Paul George is basically a franchise destroyer at this point. Everywhere he goes turns into chaos, and the moment he leaves- OKC, Pacers, they suddenly start thriving. Can’t wait for him to exit Philly so the 76ers can finally breathe again 😂
Here are other fan reactions:
@ShamsCharania bro sees clippers team looking weak and decides its his time to suit up
@ShamsCharania If he wants this team to continue to succeed, he needs to come off the bench for the next 5-7 games so he and the team can all catch a rhythm upon his return. You gotta put your ego and pride to the side if winning means that much to you.
Paul George played five seasons with the Clippers before signing with Philadelphia at the start of the 2024-25 season. The nine-time NBA All-Star was in the starting lineup, alongside Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Andre Drummond and Dominick Barlow. Sixers star and former MVP Joel Embiid also missed the game.
George was limited to just 41 games in his first season with Philadelphia. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists on 43.0% shooting.
Nick Nurse says Paul George will be on a minutes restriction
Philadelphia 76ers coach Nick Nurse told reporters before Monday's game that Paul George will be on a minutes restriction in his first game back. Nurse also gave an update on Joel Embiid, who was sidelined for the eighth time in 13 games and third in a row.
While Nurse did not specify Paul George's minutes restriction, he played less than six minutes in the first quarter of Monday's game. He had five points, two rebounds and an assist on 1-for-4 shooting.
When fully healthy, pundits expect the Sixers to contend in a wide-open Eastern Conference. Tyrese Maxey has emerged as the team's leading scorer this season, averaging 32.0 ppg on 45.4% shooting, including 41.8% from 3-point range.
Philadelphia has gotten significant contributions from forward Kelly Oubre Jr. and reserve guard Quentin Grimes. VJ Edgecombe, the No. 3 pick of the 2025 NBA draft, has also shown flashes of his potential.
