Felix Auger Aliassime vs Valentin Vacherot preview

Two in-form players, Felix Auger Aliassime and Valentin Vacherot, will lock horns in an exciting quarterfinal encounter at the 2025 Paris Masters.

Auger Aliassime, who is the ninth seed at this year’s tournament, came into Paris having recently returned to the top-10 of the rankings. His 46-21 win-loss includes a US Open semifinal and three titles in Adelaide, Lyon and Brussels.

The Canadian has been at his battling best in Paris, having come three-set battles against Francisco Comesana, Alexandre Muller and Daniel Altmaier. He will look to keep his winning run going.

Vacherot, meanwhile, is showing the same form that saw him clinch the most improbable Masters 1000 crown in Shanghai. He has dropped only one set in his three matches against quality opponents like Jiri Lehecka, Arthur Rinderknech and Cameron Norrie to book his spot in just his second quarterfinal at this level.

The Monegasque player also improved his win-loss to 12-3. More importantly, however, he has now won 12 matches straight (including three in the Shanghai qualifiers) at Masters 1000 event and has momentum on his side.

The quarterfinal encounter will pit two big-hitting players against each other. In the quick indoor conditions, fans should expect short points and a lot of winners.

The one area where Felix Auger Aliassime has a clear edge would be the serve. He has already thundered down 39 aces in his three matches as compared to Valentin Vacherot’s 18. He will once again rely on his big serve to win him a fair few easy points.

The Canadian will also look to be the aggressor, dictating play from the back court. Against Vacherot, steering clear of the big forehand is key and that’s what the ninth seed should aim to do.

Vacherot has beaten plenty of players with big match experience of late. That said, the lack of a standout weapon to bail him out of trouble (like Auger Aliassime’s serve) may come back to haunt in these ultra-fast conditions.

Prediction: Auger Aliassime in two tight sets
