The New Orleans Saints have one of the best running backs in the NFL in Alvin Kamara. Though he's older and not as efficient as he once was, he's still a solid player who is often used in the Saints' offense.
However, compared to years past, Kamara isn't getting nearly as much work as usual. He still gets the ball frequently, but hasn't been used like he has in the past, especially in the passing game.
But, as Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football shared on Twitter/X, Kamara isn't concerned about this lower usage. He's instead keeping his head down, listening to the coaching staff, and doing what they ask of him this season.
Alvin Kamara isn't concerned about lower usage this season
"I'm Employee 41," Kamara said. "I just do what they need me to do."
AK said he’s not worried about his touches. “I’m Employee 41. I just do what they need me to do.”
— Nick Underhill (@nick_underhill) October 30, 2025Kamara has played in all eight games of the season for New Orleans, and with Keandre Miller out for the season, he's far and away the Saints' best running back. Devin Neal is a day-three rookie and hasn't done much for the Saints' offense this season.
But Kamara, in these eight games, is seeing less work than he has in some time. His 12.5 rushing attempts per game are the lowest he's had since 2020, when he was splitting the backfield with Latavius Murray.
Adding on to his lesser workload with worse efficiency, a career low in success rate at 45.0%, yards per game at 45.4, and yards per attempt at 3.6.
But that's only Kamara's rushing usage. In the receiving game, Kamara is seeing less work than ever before in his NFL career. He averages 3.4 receptions per game and just 18.4 yards per game. It's the first time he's been below at least 30 yards per game through the air.

Through eight weeks, Kamara has 100 rushing attempts for 363 rushing yards and one touchdown, to go with his 27 receptions on 31 targets for 147 yards.
Not only is Kamara seeing less work than normal, but on his opportunities, he's as inefficient as he's ever been in his NFL career. In his 9th season in the league, Kamara is slowing down.
He's still a solid dual-threat running back, but with the Saints' struggles offensively and a change at quarterback to Tyler Shough from Spencer Rattler, there are a lot of questions surrounding the offense.
But, despite his lower workload and lesser efficiency, Kamara isn't concerned. He's trusting Kellen Moore and the coaching staff, putting his head down, and accepting his smaller workload this season for the Saints.
