Fans couldn't help but laugh as a kid requested Team India all-rounder Shivam Dube for an autograph when he was ready to walk out to bat during the fifth and final T20I against South Africa in Ahmedabad. In a video surfaced on X, a padded-up Dube was sitting in the dugout and gestured to the young fan about giving the autograph later.

The seam-bowling all-rounder had a small role in the fifth T20I in Ahmedabad on Friday, December 19. Coming to the crease in the 20th over, the lanky all-rounder faced only three balls but smashed 10 runs, including a four and a six, to propel Team India to a match-winning total of 231/5.

South Africa did threaten to chase down the target, headlined by a 69-run opening stand between Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks. De Kock added another 51 with Dewald Brevis but his dismissal for 65 proved to be the turning point. None of the other South African batters could regain the momentum, and the tourists fell short by 30 runs to lose the five-match series 3-1. Hardik Pandya earned the Player of the Match award for his knock of 63 and figures of 3-0-41-1.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old is strongly in contention to be picked in the T20 World Cup 2026 squad, as the selectors will announce it on Saturday, December 20, in Mumbai. With his big-hitting skills and seam bowling, the selectors have backed him alongside Hardik Pandya to perform the all-rounder's role.

Dube was also part of India's T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2024 and played a vital 16-ball 27, as India beat South Africa by six runs in the final. The Men in Blue have another five-game T20I series against New Zealand, which begins on January 21.

India will be in action on the opening day of the T20 World Cup 2026 on February 7, facing USA at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
