Falcons named as potential trade suitor for ex-Jets, Cowboys DT now with Titans

The Atlanta Falcons are likely to be in the market for defensive line help this season, as their edge rusher room has been hit by injuries and off-field issues, and recently they just lost a key interior lineman.

De'Shawn Hand is going to be out for the entire 2026 regular season due to a quad tear, leaving the Falcons with a sizeable hole along their defensive front. Adding someone in a trade would make a lot of sense.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report linked the Falcons to Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Solomon Thomas. The former New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys lineman would make a lot of sense for Atlanta, and shouldn't be too expensive to acquire either.

Knox highlighted the "potential suitors" for Thomas as the Falcons and Los Angeles Chargers. He also shared a "projected trade value" for Thomas, which came in at a very reasonable "conditional 7th-round draft pick."

Since the Falcons just lost Hand for the 2026 season, adding a new interior defensive lineman would make a lot of sense for Atlanta.

Thomas, the former San Francisco 49ers first-round draft bust, has turned into a decent depth lineman during his 10-year NFL career.

He spent the 2025 season with the Cowboys, where he recorded 27 tackles and three tackles for loss, but no sacks.

He was a productive lineman for the Jets, putting up 3.5 sacks in 2024 and 5.0 sacks in 2023. He's the kind of interior defensive lineman who has some upside, enough that a team like the Falcons should be willing to take a chance on him.

If Hand were healthy, the Falcons wouldn't need someone like Thomas. But with the hole along the defensive front, adding a veteran like Thomas, even if it's only for one season, would make a lot of sense at such a cheap price tag,
