The New York Yankees appear to be locked in as the AL's first Wild Card seed.
With just a trio of regular season series remaining, the Yankees and their coaching staff/front office should be thinking about how they'll fill out the postseason roster.
One topic of discussion will almost certainly be who is starting in center field.
Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller believes it should be rookie Spencer Jones over the currently injured Trent Grisham.
"Though he hasn't come close to matching the 35 HR, 29 SB, .932 OPS line he posted in the minors in 2025, it's hard to argue with the .802 OPS he's posted since the beginning of June," Miller wrote about Jones. "Even if Grisham is healthy heading into October, Jones might be New York's primary CF in the postseason."
Jones stands out above Grisham for two reasons:
First, he's hitting .362 with 47 at-bats with runners in scoring position. That could be incredibly valuable for the Yankees in October.
Plus, Jones has more than proven that he can handle left-handers, hitting .435 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 46 at-bats against southpaws.

Grisham's Grade 2 hamstring strain certainly complicates his return, given the Yankees probably want the freshest players on the field.
And regressed significantly on offense (.211/.308/.395, .703 OPS) after swatting 34 home runs with an .811 OPS in 2025.
Based on recent results and the health of the two players, Jones seems like the clear choice for manager Aaron Boone.
