Drake Maye has been an important part of the New England Patriots this season. Under him and new coach Mike Vrabel, the team has come a long way from its disappointing 4-13 record last year. They have clinched the AFC East division title and have booked a spot in the playoffs.
This success has put Drake Maye in the MVP conversation alongside Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. However, analyst Dan Orlovsky has riled up a hot debate online after naming the latter as his favorite to win the MVP over the Patriots quarterback.
Ex-Raiders LB Will Compton called out Orlovsky for his take. In a tweet on X, he questioned why he hates Drake Maye.

The ESPN analyst responded with a list of pointers that have come up as rumors behind his take.
"1) Bc I thought he should follow the Jordan Love timeline (and was wrong) 2) bc I wanted to train him for draft and he said no?- even thought I train no one and never have or will (Something like that rumor 3) the patriots didn't draft me 4) In college during his games I said he had chance to be 1st pick 6) whatever else gets made up."On Monday on ESPN's "First Take," Dan Orlovsky argued why Matthew Stafford deserved the MVP award over Drake Maye. He also said that the veteran would be considered one of the greatest quarterbacks if he can go to win the Super Bowl and the coveted award.
"There's no quarterback who's made more high leverage throws than Matthew Stafford (this season)," Orlovsky said. "There's no quarterback that has been asked to make more tight window throws than Matthew Stafford. ... When you just watch the ball that is played, and the stuff they ask Stafford to operate, it makes you drop your jaw. "I would tell you this, if Stafford wins the MVP and he wins the Super Bowl, I think it puts him in the conversation for one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time."This season, Stafford has tallied 4,448 yards and 42 TDs passing while helping the Rams to an 11-5 record. They dropped to the No.6 seed in the playoffs after last week's 27-24 loss to the Falcons.
On the other hand, Drake Maye has recorded 4,203 yards and 30 TDs passing. The Patriots are on a two-game winning streak with a 13-3 record.

During Wednesday's press conference, the second-year quarterback shared his honest thoughts on potentially becoming the 2025 league MVP.
