The Buffalo Bills were in need of finding another weapon for Josh Allen, and they did, in DJ Moore, but after media and fans alike hounded the AFC East team to get a receiver, when they did, people had a problem with it.
Moore is clearly Allen's No. 1 weapon, but it was what the franchise gave up to get him that some are shaking their heads at.
The Bills traded for Moore, sending a second-round pick to Chicago, but then, per ESPN's Bill Barnwell, took on all of Moore's salary, plus giving Moore another $13.5 million in 2028.
For Barnwell, the move felt like one made out of desperation.
“Though Beane anticipated the market and found real value in re-signing McGovern, every step of the Moore process felt like a franchise acting out of desperation,” Barnwell wrote.

Were Bills desperate in Moore trade?
Well, it depends on who you ask, but going by Barnwell's reasoning, you could say yes.
But alternatively, the Bills needed a weapon, were hounded for not getting one, and they did whatever they could to get Allen a new player on the outside.
Moore doesn't come to Buffalo in great form, but he'll be at the top of the depth chart for Joe Brady as the Bills look to make a deep playoff run.
Was the move desperate? Now it's easy to say that, but if Moore posts 1,000+ yards and 6 TDs, along with helping Buffalo go deep into the playoffs, it would have been worth it.
