The Kansas City Chiefs knew that, as free agency began, one position was vital to overhaul, and that was running back.
Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco are free agents, leaving no one behind Patrick Mahomes...until now.
The Chiefs made a big splash in free agency, signing Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker to a three-year, $45 million deal, which has $28.7 million guaranteed per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
What was once a Kansas City weakness has now turned into a strength for Andy Reid and his offense.

Chiefs rolling into 2026
For the first time in years, the Chiefs now have a genuine running back for Mahomes to lean on.
With Walker's 2025 performances, which saw him dominate the playoffs as the Seahawks became Super Bowl champions, that production is now coming to Kansas City.
As such, defenses will now have to pick and choose how they stop the offense.
Will they drop into coverage to cover Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and others? Leaving Walker with a light box to run against? Or will they load the box, stopping Walker, but allow Mahomes' receivers to roam free?
On Day 1 of free agency, the Chiefs wasted no time in fixing their issues.
And in Walker, got the best running back on the market to help revitalize the offense.
