The Los Angeles Rams are among the NFL franchises that have found themselves in the middle of trade rumors to begin the offseason.
Specifically, there’s been speculation that Los Angeles has been in the mix for a $96 million Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Rams have made their stance clear on acquiring the 1,000-yard wideout.
“On Friday, The Athletic reported that the Eagles had 'serious conversations' about a trade for A.J. Brown with the Rams and the (New England) Patriots," Florio wrote Saturday.
"As we understand it, however, the Rams tapped out of the talks. (It would have been interesting to say the least to see what the Rams would have done with a depth chart including Brown, Puka Nacua, and Davante Adams.")
Although the Eagles aren’t trading Brown at this time (it could happen closer to June 1), the 28-year-old was still believed to have interest from the Patriots and Rams. Assuming Florio’s report holds merit, though, Los Angeles will no longer compete in the Brown sweepstakes as the offseason progresses.
Adding Brown to the Rams’ star-studded receiving core consisting of Nacua and Adams would have helped Los Angeles make a massive statement heading into the new season.
The Rams reached the NFC Championship game last season with the dynamic WR duo, and it’s reasonable to assume the 2022 Super Bowl champions would have had every reason to be excited about their chances of reaching the promised and in 2026-27 with a physical and elite deep threat like Brown entering the picture.
Brown, who isn’t afraid to voice his frustration when he isn’t heavily involved in the Eagles’ offense, recorded 78 receptions for 1,003 receiving yards and seven touchdowns with Philadelphia last season.
Unless something changes, the Rams appear to be 100% against the idea of landing Brown via a blockbuster trade.
