The Philadelphia Eagles made a pivotal roster move on Sunday that will put the franchise’s fan base at ease in late March.
The two-time Super Bowl champions re-signed a 31-year-old tight end who finished the 2025-26 NFL campaign with 11 receiving touchdowns.
“Twice pushing back the void date on Dallas Goedert's contract has resulted in a continued partnership between the tight end and the Eagles,” NFL Network's Bobby Kownack wrote.
“Philadelphia and Goedert have agreed to terms on a one-year, $7 million contract, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Sunday.”
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Denver Broncos were interested in signing Goedert before the Super Bowl-winning TE decided to return to Philadelphia.
“I’m not sure the Broncos are done yet at tight end,” Breer wrote Monday. “Denver has had interest in Dallas Goedert, and David Njoku is still unsigned.”
Bringing back Goedert for at least another season is the smartest move the Eagles could have made over the weekend. Not only is the South Dakota product a safe option for quarterback Jalen Hurts in the passing game, but he’s also shown he can be a respectable run-blocker when fully focused.
Goedert finished the 2025-26 season with 60 receptions for 591 receiving yards, 11 touchdowns, and zero fumbles. Needless to say, the Eagles should be thrilled to have Goedert back in the fold in Philadelphia.
