"Dump her, Justin Trudeau" - Fans drag Katy Perry's romance into the mix as loyalties split in Blue Jays vs Dodgers World Series

Acclaimed singer Katy Perry is a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Meanwhile, Perry's current boyfriend, Justin Trudeau, the former Prime Minister of Canada, supports the Toronto Blue Jays. Incidentally, the Dodgers and Blue Jays faced off in the 2025 World Series, which the former won.

The two teams had split the first six games of the series before the Dodgers won the pivotal Game 7 in 11 innings. When the two teams were tied and went into the extra innings, Perry made her allegiance clear with an X post.

"Go [Dodgers]," Perry wrote.

With Katy Perry's high-profile romance with Trudeau in the limelight, it didn't take long for fans on X to mix it with their MLB team allegiances.

"Dump her," a fan wrote, tagging Trudeau.

A fan pointed out the timing of the post as Trudeau had shared an Instagram story, supporting the Blue Jays.

"You just shouted “Go Dodgers!” because Justin put “Go Jays!” on his Stories? Lol Moooom, that is peak obsessed behavior but whatever we ship it 🤪❤️," the fan commented.

Some fans claimed that Perry's allegiance to the Dodgers won't sit well with Trudeau.

"Your boyfriend won’t be happy with this," a fan reacted. "Your BF would not approve haha," another wrote. "She's testing the relationship already 😭," a fan commented.

Meanwhile, a fan found an intriguing reason why Katy Perry supports the Dodgers. She was born in Santa Barbara, California.

"You can take the girl out of LA but you can’t take the LA out of the girl," the fan commented.

Romance between Perry and Trudeau began to swirl in late July, and they publicly confirmed their relationship in October. Before dating Trudeau, she was in a relationship with Orlando Bloom. They share a daughter, Daisy, born in August 2020.

The Toronto Blue Jays agonizingly came close to winning the 2025 World Series, having last won it in 1993, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies. By the end of the seventh inning in Game 7, the Blue Jays led 4-2.

Max Muncy hit a solo homer in the eighth inning, and Miguel Rojas did the same in the ninth. Will Smith gave the Dodgers the lead with a solo homer in the 11th inning, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto wrapped things up on the mound.

Following the Blue Jays' defeat, Justin Trudeau posted a snap of himself and a friend on his Instagram story. The duo appeared to be disappointed by the result.

"Didn't end the way we hoped, but proud of this team," Trudeau captioned the post, tagging the Blue Jays.

Before his relationship with Katy Perry, Trudeau was married to Sophie Grégoire. Trudeau shares three children, two sons and a daughter, with her. They married in May 2025 and separated in 2023.
