Duke's Cameron Boozer is now one of five in college basketball history

Duke Blue Devils forward Cameron Boozer won the John R. Wooden Award on Friday, recognizing the most outstanding men's college basketball player. The son of former NBA star Carlos Boozer is the second straight Duke player to earn the honor. Cooper Flagg was named the Player of the Year last season.

Both freshmen will leave behind a legacy in Durham and are part of five newcomers in college basketball history to take home the award. Boozer and Flagg join fellow Duke standout Zion Williamson, Kentucky's Anthony Davis and Texas' Kevin Durant, who was the first to accomplish the feat.

Boozer averaged a double-double in what's projected to be his only season at Duke. He averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. The freshman phenom was the only Division I player in the last three decades to total 700 points, 300 rebounds and 100 assists while shooting at least 50 percent from the field in a single regular season.

The Wooden win was a sweep for National Player of the Year honors. Boozer previously took home the Naismith Trophy on top of AP, USBWA, NABC, Sporting News and CollegeInsider.com honors.
