He’s delivering more than just pizza — it’s a mansion with extra everything.
Thomas Monaghan, the founder of Domino’s Pizza, is parting ways with the Ann Arbor, Michigan estate he designed as a private retreat after building one of the world’s most recognizable fast-food empires.
The sprawling property, known as the Retreat at Turtle Point, has been listed for $8.75 million, according to SWNS.
Set on more than 30 acres, the compound includes a 12-bedroom main residence, a guest house, caretaker’s quarters and an extensive private recreation complex.
Monaghan completed construction on the estate in 1996, channeling a mid-century aesthetic influenced by the work of legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
“You could imagine a house of this size, it was a multi-year build to do that,” listing agent Brent Flewelling of the Charles Reinhart Company told SWNS.
“The lot was picked out to be overlooking the valley. That is one of the higher points of the property,” he said.
The main home spans nearly 10,000 square feet and features soaring ceilings, large expanses of glass and organic materials consistent with Wright’s architectural principles.
A 4,100-square-foot guest residence adds further accommodations, with another 3,400 square feet on its lower level, while a separate caretaker’s house measures roughly 1,980 square feet.
But it’s the recreational amenities that have drawn the most attention.
The property includes a 34,000-square-foot indoor complex outfitted with a basketball court, a pickleball court, racquetball, a full gym, a massage room, an indoor pool, a hot tub and a sauna.
Since its debut on Zillow Gone Wild last week, a popular real estate social media account, the listing has amassed more than 3 million views in just 72 hours.
The caption read: “Michigan is giving Arizona a run for their money because I have seen a lot of insane mansions there and this one in Ann Arbor is the most blank check mansion we’ve ever seen in Michigan!!”
“I think that is close to breaking some of the records they have,” Flewelling said.
Outdoor features are just as elaborate.
In addition to a private golf course, a hockey arena, a tennis court and a pavilion, the grounds include a car wash, a greenhouse, a bocce ball court, a playground, a trampoline and a three-story treehouse.
“There is a windmill that pumps water up through for the ambiance when you drive in,” Flewelling noted.
There’s “probably about 60 raised beds for flowers, vegetables, all of that.”
Monaghan founded Domino’s Pizza in 1960 and grew the chain into a global brand before selling the company in 1998.
The Ann Arbor estate was one of several personal projects he undertook during and after his time at the helm of the business.
