According to wrestling veteran and longtime journalist Bill Apter, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio is his WWE wrestler of the year 2025. He went on to detail why he believes this to be the case.
On the final episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, host Mac Davis spoke to WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and wrestling journalist Bill Apter about Dominik Mysterio.
Bill Apter named "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio as his WWE wrestler of the year 2025 and explained why he was his pick:
"If I had to pick a wrestler of the year today, on this date, October 28th, 2025 - it would be Dominik Mysterio. If you look at the way he has grown in terms of a person, in terms of a character, from this tall, lanky kid who didn't know much except what his Daddy did...he's exceptional at this point. He's become a big heel, and he's the guy I pick for WWE wrestler of the year 2025."Did The Rock's "Final Boss" run hurt WWE? Watch Here!

Who else can be considered the WWE wrestler of the year 2025, along with Dominik Mysterio?
There are quite a few candidates who can be considered in the running for WWE wrestler of the year 2025, along with Dominik Mysterio. For context, the incredible year that saw Dominik Mysterio win the Intercontinental Championship also resulted in him becoming the AAA Mega Champion. This is the highest accolade one can achieve in AAA, which was acquired by WWE around the WrestleMania 41 season.
One candidate for WWE wrestler of the year 2025 is Seth Rollins, who headlined the first night of WrestleMania 41, aligned himself with Paul Heyman, created The Vision and became Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed's leader, and won the Money in the Bank briefcase for the second time before winning the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2025. The injury to his shoulder halted his momentum.
Cody Rhodes is another big candidate for WWE wrestler of the year 2025 because he headlined his fourth WrestleMania this year and was involved in a match of the year candidate with John Cena at SummerSlam 2025. Cody Rhodes has since regained his WWE Championship, which he lost at WrestleMania 41, and he once again topped the PWI 500 list. In doing so, he became the fourth wrestler to top the PWI 500 in back-to-back years. The other names to do this were Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and John Cena.
Jey Uso might be considered a controversial candidate for the wrestler of the year, but on paper, his Royal Rumble 2025 victory and World Heavyweight Championship win at WrestleMania 41 put him up there with the biggest names in the industry.
CM Punk has also had another incredible year in 2025 as his WWE return run continues to prove to be a massive success. Although his World Heavyweight Championship reign only lasted for five minutes at SummerSlam, he headlined WrestleMania for the first time in his career, and his value to WWE has been far greater than any metric will tell you.
On the women's side, Iyo Sky might just be a dark horse candidate for one of the best WWE wrestlers of the year 2025. From an in-ring standpoint, Iyo Sky has surpassed most of her male counterparts and has long been considered one of the best in-ring performers in the world, regardless of gender. Iyo Sky had the greatest moment of her wrestling career at WrestleMania 41.
Rhea Ripley continued to be one of the most important wrestlers in WWE, but a lack of dominance in any championship picture means that she will likely be out of the conversation this year.
