It has been a terrific season for Lane Kiffin, especially after Ole Miss was snubbed out of the playoffs last season. With only a single loss to Georgia, the Rebels are 7-1 and hope to make the 12-team playoff field very soon.
However, there have been rumors of Coach Kiffin's potential departure from the team in pursuit of the LSU job that has been vacant ever since Brian Kelly was dismissed.
Ostensibly, it appears to be a far-fetched idea but college football insider Joel Klatt claims it is certainly possible. LSU is a tempting place to be in. Ole Miss might be an SEC team, but the exposure, NIL and resources at Louisiana State are on a whole other level. Klatt believes it will be a major upgrade for Coach Kiffin in his professional career.

The Fox insider was speaking to Colin Cowherd on Wednesday; that's where he shared his theory as to why this could be a possible move. He added that opportunities like these don't come often and Kiffin should not hesitate to make the move.
“LSU is intriguing. I just think LSU is a step above. I think you have to overachieve at Ole Miss and you’ve got to do things that the program has never done to reach your goals and win at the top end of college football,” Kiffin said this week.

I do think it comes down to resources and like I said, I think LSU has top two or three resources financially in college football. I know a couple of their boosters.
"They have deep, deep pockets and in this day and age, that’s what you have to have. I think Lane will (leave). If I had to bet, Lane Kiffin is your next coach at LSU,” he added.

These rumors have already spread like wildfire in college football circles. Earlier this week, Kiffin appeared on the Pat McAfee Show to address his team's progress and potential rumors about his future at the university.
“I've never based a decision off of money and I never will. I’ve seen too many examples in life where money does not buy happiness. I am never going to make a decision over money, nor do I care about it,” Kiffin said on the Pat McAfee show on Monday. If this move happens, it would be a huge shock for the Ole Miss fans, especially when the team is going through a dominating season after several years. No doubt, this could also make Kiffin one of the highest-paid coaches in the history of college football.
