Stephen A. Smith is a household name in sports, and the veteran analyst seems to be getting buzz on the political front as well. Comedian Bill Maher believes that the 'First Take' host has what it takes to be the President of the United States of America.

Maher suggested, while speaking with rapper Killer Mike. He said,

"I think we’re in a post-politician era. I actually think Stephen A. Smith is kind of realistic.”

When asked about the possibility of Smith running as a democrat, Maher said,

"I think the Democrats need somebody who doesn’t give a sh*t… Stephen A. Smith can go, ’Have you all lost your godd*mn mind?’ in a way that Pritzker cannot."

In April of this year, Smith spoke about having no choice but to consider a run for president. According to ABC News, he said,

"Here's the reality: People, literally people, have walked up to me, including my own pastor, for crying out loud, who has said to me, 'You don't know what God has planned for you. At least show the respect to the people who believe in you, who respect you, who believe that you can make a difference in this country, to leave the door open for any possibilities some to three years down the line.' And that's what I've decided to do."

The outspoken analyst is leaning towards running as a democrat, and he could be on the ballot for the 2028 Presidential election.

Stephen A. Smith drew criticism for Drake Maye remarks

Earlier this week, Stephen A. Smith called Drake Maye a liar after the New England Patriots star claimed not to know what show Cam Newton is on. Newton is one of Smith's co-hosts on First Take.

Smith fired back on Thursday's 'First Take' episode, saying,

"He’s also a liar. Pardon the Interruption is the No. 1 show on ESPN, spanning 20-plus decades. ‘First Take’ is the No. 1 morning show, 13 years and counting, April will be 14 years. Don’t tell me you're an athlete and you don’t know that. Don’t tell me you're an athlete and you don’t know that Cam Newton is on this show. You're lying."

Smith's words drew backlash on social media, with fans, players, and critics calling him out. One of the many critics is three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth.

Mark Schlereth addressed Smith from a player's perspective. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that players aren't sitting around the locker room watching First Take. He believes that Smith's words were some of the most arrogant he's seen on TV.

Drake Maye hasn't responded to Smith calling him a liar. He's instead gearing up for the Patriots' Week 12 showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Patriots are one win away from reaching the 10-win mark for the first time since the Tom Brady days.
