On November 6, 2025, Dear X premiered its initial four installments on TVING. Viewers can anticipate the subsequent pair of chapters, episodes 5 and 6, arriving on November 13, 2025, also at the 6:00 pm KST timeslot on TVING and on HBO MAX in selected regions.

The narrative centers on Baek Ah-jin (Kim Yoo-jung), an esteemed leading actress. Beneath her generous public persona lies a history marked by childhood domestic abuse. To survive, Ah-jin cultivated a chilling knack for emotional concealment and reading people's hearts, turning manipulation into a skillset.

A-Jin's primary constant has been Yoon Jun-seo (Kim Young-dae). He has been an unwavering fixture in her existence, prepared to undertake any request. However, the plot thickens as Joon-Seo decides to orchestrate her demise. A second devoted figure is Kim Jae-oh (Kim Do-hoon). Sharing a painful background of paternal mistreatment, Jae-oh felt an intrinsic bond with Ah-jin.

What's ahead in episodes 5 & 6 of Dear X?

The upcoming episodes of Dear X are expected to shift focus from school corridors to the world of fame and deception. After cutting ties with Jun-seo, Ah-jin steps into the entertainment industry under Longstar Entertainment. Her rise as a new actress won’t be smooth, as her dark past, including her father’s death and manipulation of those around her, threatens to surface.

As she learns to navigate the glamour industry, Ah-jin will likely use the same cunning that helped her survive school. Jun-seo’s story also seems far from over. Wracked with guilt for taking the blame, he could either fall apart or harden into someone more dangerous. Jae-oh’s return from prison also promises another arc.

Dear X opens with a violent scene that defines its lead: Ah-jin’s father pushes her drunken mother down the stairs, killing her. After the murder, he moves in with his mistress, who is also Jun-seo’s mother. The couple then plans to send Ah-jin to an orphanage. Traumatized, Ah-jin grows up learning that manipulation is the only way to survive.

In the present, Ah-jin studies at Singwang High, where she appears quiet and focused but hides a calculating mind. Her first act of revenge is exposing a teacher, Mrs. Kwak, by leaking her private photos during a school celebration. This sparks chaos and marks Ah-jin’s first taste of power.

Sim Sung-hee, jealous of Ah-jin’s grades and attention, spreads rumors that Ah-jin is an orphan. Ah-jin retaliates by spreading a report claiming Sung-hee’s parents bribed judges to win the debate contest. The scandal gets the school banned from the affair.

Furious, Sung-hee throws water on Ah-jin, and Jun-seo steps in to defend her. He fakes to date Sung-hee to protect Ah-jin. Ah-jin’s friend Jae-oh, who shares a traumatic past, runs a small loan-shark business with her. He later kills his abusive father while defending his younger brother. He, later, is sentenced to three to five years in prison.

Ah-jin earns admission to Hankook University’s law department, while Jun-seo joins Anam University. Ah-jin’s university admission is revoked afterward because she fails to register on time. Later, she connects with Choi Jeong-ho, who hires her at his café, Xanadu Coffee. Jun-seo moves nearby to watch over her.

Photos of Ah-jin taken at the café go viral, catching the attention of Longstar Entertainment’s Seo Mi-ri, who offers her an acting gig. However, Ah-jin declines. Meanwhile, Ah-jin’s father keeps harassing her for money. When Jun-seo beats him in anger and gets arrested, Ah-jin lies to the police, saying Jun-seo is stalking her.

She later manipulates Jun-seo into believing she has a bigger plan. Soon, she creates one. She does make her father look like a stalker by giving him a similar beanie. When her father attacks her again, Jeong-ho intervenes and hits a bat. In truth, Ah-jin orchestrated everything. Police rule the case as self-defense, but inconsistencies appear as flushed beanie threads are found.

Moreover, the father’s head injury doesn’t match Ah-jin’s claim. Ah-jin overhears the police planning to frame her story for publicity and slips up, revealing details. Jun-seo confesses to the murder, saying he finished what Jeong-ho started, but the truth is that Ah-jin dealt the final blow. Jun-seo only cleaned the evidence to protect her.

Police doubt his confession, but Mi-ri steps in and clears Ah-jin’s name. She also signs Ah-jin under Longstar Entertainment. By the Dear X episode 4, Ah-jin ends her relationship with Jun-seo, saying his kindness weakens her. She decides to rise alone, stepping into the entertainment world as someone who controls rather than obeys.

So far, Yoo-jung’s character Ah-jin in Dear X has been well-received by many on X!
