The Chicago Bears are coming off a confidence-building Week 9 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. After being in command late, the Bears blew the game, allowing the Bengals to come back and take a late lead.
But a miraculous throw and catch gave the Bears the stunning 47-42 win. In the aftermath of such a win, the Bears were concerned about one player's injury. Pass rusher Dayo Odeyingbo was feared to have suffered a significant injury, and the next day, those fears were confirmed.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Bears' pass rusher got a brutal diagnosis, as Odeyingbo has a torn Achilles and is out for the season. This injury, combined with the Bears' win, has created a clear and dire need for Ryan Poles and the Bears at the deadline.
Bears' Dayo Odeyingbo's season-ending injury highlights dire trade deadline need
In the wake of Odeyingbo's injury, the Bears' defense took a big hit. The 26-year-old pass rusher has had 21 tackles and one sack so far this season. But after his injury, his debut season in Chicago has come to an end.

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 3, 2025He signed a $48 million contract in the offseason and was a starter along the defensive line alongside Montez Sweat. Now, with Odeyingbo out, the Bears' defensive line is a position of dire need at the deadline.
Austin Booker, Daniel Hardy, and Dominique Robinson make up the depth at edge rusher behind Sweat and Odeyingbo. With the season-ending injury to the $48 million pass rusher and Robinson's injury, the Bears need to address their pass rusher spot.
With a 5-3 record and a chance to secure a playoff spot, the Bears need to address their defensive line at the deadline.

Chicago could decide to bring in a player for multiple seasons, like Jermaine Johnson, or they could go after a big-ticket name like Trey Hendrickson.
But, with the injury to Odeyingbo, the need at edge rusher is apparent. Tied with the Detroit Lions in the NFC North, the Bears have reason to spend strong draft capital to improve the defense for a playoff push.
While a rental like Hendrickson might not be ideal, the Bears traded for Sweat at a time when they weren't viewed as playoff contenders. It's worked out, as they re-signed him to an extension.
Whether it's a minor move for added depth to get through the rest of the year, a big splash to drastically improve the defense, or a middle-of-the-road acquisition to improve the defense, Chicago needs to address their defensive line by the NFL deadline.
