Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is a dual citizen of Canada and the Dominican Republic. Though he spent the majority of his childhood in D.R., Guerrero was born in Montreal in 1999, while his father was playing for the now-defunct Expos.

The slugger holds a special place in most Canadian's hearts due to his performance in the ballpark and likable persona on the field. However, certain fringe elements appear to question his racial and ethnic identity.

On Tuesday, an X user, "Canadian Patriot", a fan with right-wing beliefs, posted a clip of the Blue Jays star singing in Spanish on a private jet.

"This is the player people claim to be Canadian on the Toronto Blue Jays. Does this look or sound like a Canadian to you?" the fan wrote.

On Thursday, Davis Schneider's father, Steve, fired back at the fan. He re-shared the post and gave a fitting response.

"If he decided to run for Prime Minister he’d be elected in a landslide, so yeah, that’s my son’s Canadian friend you d’bag…," Steve wrote.

In addition to Davis Schneider, Steve has two daughters, Madeline and Olivia. His oldest son, Steven, died four years ago due to an accidental overdose. He was just 26. Madeline, the oldest child in the family, is an accountant in New York. Olivia, the third child, is a customer service team lead at Vera Bradley.

Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. created history in the 2025 World Series

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays were inches away from winning the 2025 World Series. However, the Dodgers players showed nerves of steel as they escaped difficult positions and eventually won with timely home runs from Max Muncy, Miguel Rojas, and Will Smith.

While Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was the leader of the clubhouse, Schneider also provided useful contributions. The duo impressed together in Game 5 of the World Series, giving the Blue Jays a 3-2 lead, which they squandered in the Fall Classic.

Schneider hit a homer on the first pitch of the game against Blake Snell. Guerrero did the same in the second pitch he faced, the third of the game, against Snell. This was the first time this feat had been accomplished in World Series history.

The Blue Jays won the game 6-1. In addition to Schneider and Guerrero, rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage impressed with 12 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched. Yesavage also created history as he became the first pitcher in World Series history to strike out 12 sluggers without a walk.
