NASCAR reporter Danielle Trotta has shared an emotional meeting she had at a grocery store this week, as the community mourns and prays for Greg Biffle and his family, including ex-wife Nicole Lunders.

Biffle would have had his 56th birthday on December 23 if not for the crash that killed him, his wife, Christina, and his two children, Ryder and Emma. In a recent social media post, Trotta remembered the former Cup driver by sharing stories about Biffle's work and impact on others.

The NASCAR on Amazon Prime host shared her interaction with a cashier after she wore a NASCAR hoodie while shopping for groceries.

"The lady behind the register said your sweatshirt reminds me of that man who passed away. I told her about Greg, how his 56th birthday would have been yesterday, how much his kids meant to him & how good of a man he was, how much good he did in the world until his dying day. I could instantly see Greg touched her heart," Trotta wrote on Instagram.

Trotta also mentioned Nicole Lunders, Emma's mother, who would have to go through the difficult loss during the holiday season.

"As we continue to grieve his loss and all those who lost their lives, may their giving spirits be spread in our communities thru our stories of them. I continue to pray for Emma's mom, Nicole, tomorrow I'm sure will be unbearable. We pray for her and all the families affected in this tragedy," Trotta added.

Biffle and his family were among the seven people who died in the crash on December 18. Their small private jet took off from Statesville Regional Airport and tried to return shortly after. The plane crashed while landing and burst into flames at the airport in North Carolina.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA opened an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

Greg Biffle shared daughter Emma with ex-wife Nicole Lunders

Greg Biffle's 14-year-old daughter, Emma, is survived by her mother, Nicole Lunders, who had divorced Biffle about a decade ago. Biffle and Lunders, who were married in October 2007, separated in March 2015, and their divorce was filed a year later. Their daughter Emma was born in 2011.

Nicole Lunders and the family of other victims of the crash, Biffle's close friend Dennis Dutton, his son, Jack Dutton, and Craig Wadsworth shared a joint statement following the tragedy.

"We are devastated by the loss of our loved ones. This tragedy has left all of our families heartbroken beyond words," the statement read.

Meanwhile, fans and North Carolina remembered Biffle on his 56th birthday, December 23, with multiple messages and billboards. NASCAR journalist Kaitlyn Vincie shared a picture of one such billboard on X.

Biffle was widely respected among fans and the NASCAR community as a champion racer and humanitarian. His relief flights into communities hit by Hurricane Helene also earned him the NMPA Myers Brothers Award last year.
