The inaugural IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals (RR), and five-time winners, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), are actively involved in trade talks over Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja over the last few days. According to a report from Cricbuzz, the deal could be sealed between the two teams since the two players belong to the same salary bracket of INR 18 crore.
The report, however, added that the Royals are asking for another player - Dewald Brevis, who was bought by the Super Kings as a replacement player mid-season in IPL 2025. The 22-year-old smashed 225 runs in six games at a strike rate of 180, including two fifties. Soon, he became a regular for the Proteas in the white-ball setup following his comeback to the T20Is after a 12-month hiatus. In September, Brevis became the costliest player during the SA20 auction when Pretoria Capitals bid R16.5 million. The Chennai-based franchise has no intention of letting go of any other player, including Brevis. Currently, the ball is the RR’s court to make a final decision.
Notably, Jadeja has been a vital cog in the wheels of CSK over the last few decades. In 254 IPL matches, the all-rounder has amassed 3260 runs and scalped 170 wickets. Last year, the southpaw scored 301 runs in 14 innings with the help of two fifties. The left-arm spinner also bagged 10 wickets at an economy rate of 8.56.
Like Jadeja for CSK, Samson has been equally an asset for RR for a long time. The wicketkeeper-batter has amassed 4704 runs in 177 matches with the help of three tons and 26 half-centuries.
The Kerala-born player, however, played only nine matches for the franchise last season due to an injury. In these games, the right-hander scored 285 runs at a strike rate of 140.39, including a half-century. He also played under the captaincy of Riyan Parag in three games during IPL 2025. Notably, the RR management is undergoing a major overhaul. They have parted ways with head coach Rahul Dravid, CEO Jake Lush McCrum, and some of the coaching staff ahead of the 2026 auction.
Heinrich Klaasen is likely to stay with SRH ahead of IPL 2025 auction
The SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) are likely to continue with South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. As per Cricbuzz, the franchise will also continue with Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. The report added that the Hyderabad-based franchise is not interested in buying Sanju Samson.
Notably, Klaasen has amassed 1,414 runs in 42 matches (39 innings) after joining SRH in 2023. The swashbuckling batter was the highest run-getter for the franchise last year, amassing 487 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 172.70, including one ton and a fifty. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan scored 354 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 152.58, including one century and a fifty.
