Crystal Palace welcome Brentford to Selhurst Park for a Premier League London derby this Saturday.
Crystal Palace are currently in 10th place, with Brentford one place below them in 11th. Only goal difference separates them, with both teams on 13 points.
So who will come out on top in South London this weekend?
Crystal Palace vs Brentford Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- Crystal Palace's recent record against Brentford is a relatively bad one. They have only beaten the Bees once in their last six meetings, and fell to a 1-2 defeat to them at Selhurst Park in January.
- Both of these teams are coming off wins in the fourth round of the EFL Cup, though it's fair to say that Crystal Palace's 0-3 win over Liverpool at Anfield was somewhat more impressive than Brentford's elimination of League Two Grimsby, even if the Bees won 0-5.
- After a strong start to their Premier League season, Crystal Palace have tailed off slightly in recent weeks. They are winless in their last three, with defeats to Everton and Arsenal sandwiching a draw with Bournemouth.
- Brentford, on the other hand, have won three of their last four matches in impressive fashion. They defeated Manchester United to end September, and then scored back-to-back wins over West Ham and Liverpool last week.
- Only Erling Haaland has scored more goals than Brentford striker Igor Thiago this season. The Brazilian has recorded six, with four of those goals coming in his last four matches.
Crystal Palace vs Brentford Prediction
Given Brentford's strong form as of late - as well as their good record against Crystal Palace - the Bees will probably come into this match with plenty of confidence.
The difference-maker here, though, could be Crystal Palace's defensive record. The Eagles have only conceded nine goals thus far, their two defeats were narrow ones, and they're unlikely to cave into Brentford's direct approach like Liverpool did.
Brentford, on the other hand, have only kept one clean sheet since August, and it's unlikely they'll be able to keep Palace out.
The prediction, then, is a narrow home win.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Brentford
