Martin Kaymer is focused on his LIV Golf future while keeping an eye on the 2027 Ryder Cup. With many LIV player contracts set to expire soon, the two-time major champion is renegotiating his deal while planning for his team, Cleeks GC.

Kaymer has earned over $8 million on LIV in four years but has managed just three top-ten finishes. Speaking to bunkered.co.uk, he said he hopes to keep playing on LIV for at least the next five years but noted that long-term contracts are harder to secure at his age.

“In terms of when you’re 50-55, you can’t sign a contract for three or five years. It’s just not realistic in terms of playing quality compared to other players. But we’re in that process. I think most of the guys who signed up with LIV from the get-go are all trying to negotiate new contracts,” he said.

Martin Kaymer is also looking for a new player for Cleeks GC after Frederik Kjettrup was relegated. Using stats from a Finnish company, he has shortlisted 10–15 DP World Tour players and is analyzing their performances.

While focusing on LIV, Kaymer has not ruled out a European Ryder Cup comeback. He said he may return to the DP World Tour if he feels he can compete at a level to make the 2027 Ryder Cup team.

“Hopefully, in 2027, there’s a Ryder Cup year. If I feel like I have a chance to make the Ryder Cup, then I will join. Otherwise I stick with LIV. I have still an exemption for six, seven, eight years through my success that I had in the past. So that gives me all those years,” he added.

Currently, Martin Kaymer is also restricted from taking on a captain or vice-captain role for Europe due to a DP World Tour rule introduced in 2018. The regulation prevents players who have given up their tour membership in a season from serving in leadership positions for the Ryder Cup.

How has Martin Kaymer performed so far in the Ryder Cup

Martin Kaymer has played in four Ryder Cups for Europe: 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016. He was part of three winning teams in his first three appearances, finishing with five wins, six losses, and three halves overall.

Here’s a look at his Ryder Cup record:

  • 2010 – Celtic Manor: Qualified at 25, record 2 wins, 1 loss, 1 half
  • 2012 – Medinah: Qualified at 27, 1 win, 1 loss, 0 halves
  • 2014 – Gleneagles: Qualified at 29, 1 win, 1 loss, 2 halves
  • 2016 – Hazeltine: Picked at 31, 1 win, 3 losses, 0 halves

His most memorable moment came at Medinah in 2012, when he holed the putt that secured Europe’s victory. The next Ryder Cup in 2027 will be held at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland.
