Cowboys' Quinnen Williams has ideal thoughts on Micah Parsons comparison

3 hours ago 2

Like it or not, new Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Quinnen Williams was always going to be compared to Micah Parsons after his trade from the New York Jets was finalized.

With the Cowboys trading Parsons and using some of the draft capital to get Williams to The Star, many are using the move to compare Quinnen and Micah.

Which isn't fair, given that they're completely different players.

And as it turns out, when asked about being linked together with Parsons, Williams had the perfect response.

"Micah Parsons is a phenomenal player," Williams said. "He can do things I can't dream about doing, especially to rushing the passer. But we're totally different players in that aspect. I'm more interior presence, interior push, physical, strong, and a good interior pass rusher.

"I'm just here to do my job the best [of] my ability and be a difference maker from the interior standpoint and the defensive line standpoint the best way I can."

Williams not a throw at 2025 stumps

There has been some huge pushback on the trade for Williams in the national media, with the general feeling being that the trade for Quinnen was for the 2025 season, and given Dallas' 3-5-1 record, it didn't make sense for the Cowboys to use draft capital on a wasted season.

Except that wasn't the entire reason for the trade -- it was made with 2026 and beyond in mind, too.

Given the contractual control of Williams, the Cowboys now have a player, similar to Micah, that they can build the defense around, and yes, the capital given up was a lot, but Dallas would be "hoping" to get a Williams in the draft; now they actually have him.

There are so many holes in this defense, you have to start somewhere in the rebuild, and with the offense set at most positions, that allows the focus to be fully on the defense, hence the moves for Williams and Logan Wilson.

So, the moves were made with an eye on one, making the defense better this season, and two, getting a head start on the rebuild in the offseason.
