The Dallas Cowboys and their need to make a move or two before the trade deadline to help their embattled defense have been the hot topic over the past week.
Matt Eberflus' defense has been poor for most of the season, and Sunday's 44-24 loss to the Denver Broncos further illustrated the need for something to happen, acquisition-wise.
Some are on the fence regarding giving up draft capital for a player to help a defense that has so many holes; multiple players are needed at least. Others think the offense is too good to waste, so help is needed.
Whatever side you sit on, owner Jerry Jones' comments on making a trade before the deadline will make you shake your head.
“We had several things that didn't play right Sunday, not to be tried or not to be anyway, one addition at this time to correct what we would like to totally correct Sunday has got to be from within, not from without," Jerry said on 105.3 The Fan.

Cowboys need to start stacking wins
Running back Javonte Williams stated the team needs to be more consistent, and through eight weeks, the Cowboys have yet to win back-to-back games, as it feels like one step forward, two steps back right now.
But there is a path forward.
The Arizona Cardinals before the bye, and then the Las Vegas Raiders.
Those are two games the Cowboys "should" be winning, and they would move to 5-4-1 as a result.
That's a start.
But then the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, and Detroit Lions are next on the schedule, which is nightmare fuel. The offense can hang with those three, but the defense? Goodness me, things could get ugly.
Before that, though, two games for Dallas to navigate — and two it should win — to maybe kickstart something positive in the second half of the season.
Yes, it might be wishful thinking, but right now, that's all the Cowboys have.
