John Cena has just retired from the WWE. Days after his retirement, he has achieved another major milestone.
Cena is one of the greatest WWE stars of all time. After a legendary career, he decided to call it quits and went on a farewell tour this year that saw him win the Undisputed WWE Championship and the Intercontinental Title. The Last Real Champion competed in his final match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13 against Gunther.
Days after his retirement, Pubity took to social media to announce that the WWE legend had been voted by fans as the 2025 Person of the Year. Cena narrowly beat Cristiano Ronaldo with a 55% to 45% vote.
"John Cena has been named Pubity's 2025 Person of the Year according to our official fan vote. He narrowly beat Cristiano Ronaldo 55% to 45%."Hornswoggle opened up about John Cena's retirement
Although it's been a few days since Cena competed in his final WWE match, fans are still not over the fact that they will never get to see the Greatest of All Time compete again. This is evident in the resounding chorus of boos that echo through the arena when Gunther's theme song plays. This is because Cena has been a part of every fan's lives for the past 20 years.
During a recent interview with WrestlingNewsCo's Velvet Ropes, Hornswoggle said that other legends' retirements, like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, and Ric Flair, didn't hit as hard as Cena's retirement.
"[Steve] Austin being done didn't hit as hard. [Ric] Flair being done didn't hit as hard. Shawn Michaels being done didn't hit [as hard], and I think that's culture-wide in wrestling... I cannot put a finger on why this one [John Cena] is hitting the wrestling community so big, and I think it truly is because John Cena is the greatest human ever," Swoggle said.It will be interesting to see what's next for Cena outside WWE.
