Commanders urged to sign Pro Bowl TE for Jayden Daniels

The Washington Commanders will enter their offseason knowing they swung for the fences in 2025 and missed.

That will likely lead to a little recalibration and a need to look into free agency again as they seek to rediscover the form that led them to the NFC Championship game in 2024.

One way to do it is to surround Jayden Daniels with quality weapons, and one has just become available in the form of Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku.

Could that work? Absolutely, and CBS Sports' Jared Dubin sees Washington as a potential landing spot for the tight end.

"Washington lost Zach Ertz to a torn ACL toward the end of the 2025 season, and needs a pass-catching tight end to replace him," Dubin writes. "John Bates is more of a blocker and 2024 second-round pick Ben Sinnott has failed to distinguish himself as a receiving option through his first two seasons. If the Commies decide they need to look outside the building in free agency, Njoku could be a strong option."

Is Njoku gettable?

For a 29-year-old tight end who has only had one good season (2023), the market might not be filled with suitors, which could suit Washington.

Spotrac.com has Njoku's market value at $10 million APY. Will Washington be willing to part ways with that sort of money? We know how trusted Zach Ertz was for Daniels, and in Njoku, he has the explosive element Ertz doesn't.

So, it could be quite the match if the Commanders are willing to pay up for his services.

Washington needs more weapons around Jayden, and getting him a tight end who can stress a defense isn't a bad option to have.
