The Washington Commanders have made a pair of additions to the backfield this week.
After signing Rachaad White to a free agent contract, they've now signed Jerome Ford, too.
Ford, who spent the past four seasons with the Browns, was signed on Saturday morning, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The Commanders will return the talented Jacory Croskey-Merritt for his second season in the NFL. And now he'll have both White and Ford to push him and bolster the overall depth chart.
Ford is 26 years old, having been a fifth-round pick by the Browns in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati (he began his college career at Alabama).
Ford's best season was 2023. That year, he had 204 carries for 813 yards and four touchdowns while catching another 44 passes for 319 yards and five TDs.

He added 565 rushing yards and 37 catches in the 2024 season.
The 2025 campaign was spent deep on the depth chart for Ford. He had just 24 carries for 73 yards, although he maintained some of his receiving contributions with 26 catches for 103 yards.
The Commanders have now added two backs in White and Ford who are both known as good pass catchers. That's a skill that JCM is known for not having, so it makes sense to complement "Bill" like that.
It'll be fascinating to see how White and Ford end up shaking out on the depth chart.
