Dodgers urged to trade former top SP prospect after brutal 12.60 ERA season

The Los Angeles Dodgers have one of the most stacked starting rotations in all of Major League Baseball. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki make up the headliners.

But, there are plenty of other quality depth starters, like Emmett Sheehan, who could make an impact in the Majors. However, not all of their starting pitching depth is ready for the main stage. One righty former top prospect should be given a much-needed change of scenery.

Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter is urging the Dodgers to trade away righty Bobby Miller and give him a change of scenery. While his rookie year was impressive, after a brutal two-year stretch, Miller's time in Los Angeles should be coming to an end.

Dodgers urged to trade Bobby Miller for change of scenery

"He was crushed in one April spot start last season, allowing eight hits and six runs in three innings, and spent the bulk of the season back at Triple-A, shifting to a bullpen role in July," Reuter writes. "Now he's looking to resurrect his career, entering his age-27 season with two minor league options remaining."

Miller struggled mightily in the Majors last season, posting a brutal 12.60 ERA in two games (one start) across five innings with seven strikeouts. His WHIP was a terrible 2.600.

The Dodgers cannot rely on Miller in 2026, and instead of keeping him on the roster or in the minor leagues, it might make more sense to trade him away and land something in return.

While his value might not be as high as it should be for a former top pitching prospect, this situation is one that likely won't get much better with how deep the Dodgers' rotation is, making it so Miller won't have much of a chance to increase his value.

Instead of letting Miller stick in the minors, trading him away for prospects, or a Major Leaguer to help in 2026 might be the best option moving forward for both the Dodgers and especially for Miller.

While playing on a team as good as the Dodgers is appealing for any player, for Miller, who likely won't crack the rotation anytime soon, moving to a new team and getting a starting job is the more appealing route.

Reuter named Miller as a trade candidate in need of a change of scenery. After his brutal 2025 and rough 8.52 ERA in 2024 across 13 starts, Miller leaving Los Angeles for a new team makes a ton of sense for both the team and the player.
