The Dallas Cowboys’ pass rush was nothing to write home about in 2025-26.
The five-time Super Bowl champions finished the year with 25 sacks, landing them outside the top-20.
According to a recent trade rumor involving the Dallas Cowboys, the franchise could change its narrative about its ability to disrupt opposing quarterbacks by trading for a 28-year-old Minnesota Vikings star defender.
“With Trey Hendrickson now off the board (he recently signed with the Baltimore Ravens), teams who were pursuing him now plan to pivot towards a trade for Jonathan Greenard,” Forbes Evan Sidery reported on X/Twitter Wednesday.
“The (Indianapolis) Colts, Cowboys, (Philadelphia) Eagles, and (Seattle) Seahawks figure to be in the mix with the price being a 2026 Day 2 pick.”
Greenard is coming off a down season with the Vikings, only recording 38 total tackles and three sacks in 12 games (he dealt with a nagging shoulder injury that forced him to miss several contests).
However, Greenard's stellar 2024-25 campaign in Minnesota makes it easy to see why he could generate interest from several franchises on the trade market.
The Florida product, who signed a four-year deal with the Vikings two offseasons ago, emerged as a star with the Vikings following a 59-tackle, 12-sack season (17 outings).
If Dallas were to receive the dominant version of Greenard in a hypothetical scenario, they would have every reason to be excited about their long-term potential on the defensive side of the ball. For now, a Greenard-Cowboys trade will remain an intriguing rumor.
