Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders’ desire to remain in Boulder being questioned

4 hours ago 1

Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders has no connection to the Centennial State. His home state is Florida. He played for the FSU Seminoles. His son, Shedeur, plays for the Cleveland Browns. For now. His other son, Shilo, is out of football for the time being.

The Ringer’s Joel Anderson questioned why Coach Prime is staying in Colorado, considering his obvious lack of interest in recruiting, outside of big names like Jordan Seaton and Julian Lewis, anyway, and the tough recruiting landscape in a non-football state since the aughts.

“The one thing we know about Deion is that he coached his sons every step of the way. They're gone now. He's not doing well, health-wise. He already told you he don't wanna recruit. That shows that you actually don't kinda enjoy a lot of parts of this thing,” Anderson said to Bomani Jones on "The Right Time.”

“What are they building towards?

“He doesn't have no connections to Colorado. It's hard to get people to go over there....Because we all know he ain't got no connection to Colorado, there's no reason for him to be there anymore.”

Jones was in agreement, though he took it further. Jones questioned if Coach Prime was good at any aspect of his job, including in-game X’s and O’s.

“Has he done anything to make you think that he can coach?.. Managing clock stuff, Deion has not demonstrated himself to be great at. I don't think that his teams have a clear personality or a clear identity that speaks to a head coach,” Jones said.

If coaching at CU is not his true calling, retirement could be on the next line. Coach Prime is unhealthy, and the idea of stepping down is out in the ether from the biggest publications in town.

Not many expected Sanders to coach the Buffs in 2025, and even fewer expect him to return in 2026.

We’ll see if Coach Prime can once again prove the doubters wrong.
