Duet Night Abyss is a new ARPG game that was released on October 28, 2025. Initially, it was planned to be released as a gacha game. However, with its release, the developers have removed the gacha system for characters and weapons. Although it might not have a banner system like Genshin Impact, it still shares a few similarities in its open-world mechanics. DNA also has many significant differences from Genshin that make it a unique game.
In this article, we'll take a closer look at three similarities and key differences between Duet Night Abyss and Genshin Impact.
Duet Night Abyss and Genshin Impact - 3 ways the games are similar
1) Huge Open-World maps

Like Genshin Impact, DNA also features an enormous map where you can explore underground areas, cities, and more. Both games also have unique designs for many areas that motivate you to keep exploring and find all the special places in these huge maps.
2) Strong and engaging storylines

In Genshin Impact, you must journey alongside Paimon to find your sibling and uncover the truths of this world. The title also features many engaging Main Quests and World Quests that drop substantial lore about the world.
DNA maintains a strong and engaging storyline and takes it up a notch with its special Impressions feature. Your dialogue choices have an impact that can change the NPC's perception of your character. Furthermore, the game delves into delicate topics, such as racism, and fully immerses you in the story of the main characters.

3) Similar challenges and open-world mechanics

To fully explore a map in Genshin, you have to collect many chests, Oculus, and complete specific time-trial challenges.
DNA also features identical aspects, such as Advensphere, that are similar to Oculus. Apart from this, you can also find many chests and time-trial challenges on the open-world map.

Duet Night Abyss and Genshin Impact - 3 key differences
1) Farming mechanics

The former has Original Resin that regenerates every day, and you must spend it to obtain various boss drops, talent level-up, and weapon materials. Since the Resin you get daily is limited, you can only farm for a few materials.
On the other hand, Duet Night Abyss completely removes the time-limited farming feature, as you can farm for character EXP, weapon materials, and Demon Wedges, among other items, any number of times.
2) No gacha for characters and weapons

In Genshin Impact, if you want to get new characters or weapons, you must pull on the latest banners. Furthermore, each banner typically stays for around 21 days, which makes it harder for you to get every new character.
However, in Duet Night Abyss, you can obtain characters and weapons with Secret Letters. DNA's gacha system is limited only to cosmetics, as you can get every character and weapon in the title by farming for them using the Secret Letters feature.
3) Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) gameplay style

In games of the MMO genre, you can meet a lot of new players in the same world. After completing the On a Gentle Breeze quest, you can unlock co-op areas and interact with multiple gamers in the same world.
On the other hand, Genshin Impact does not feature MMO gameplay. Instead, you can only invite players to your world or join other worlds. Genshin is mainly a single-player game with limited co-op features.
