A 54-year-old WWE legend isn't too excited about CM Punk's World Heavyweight Title win. The Second City Saint claimed his second World Title since his return to WWE after he beat Jey Uso at Saturday Night's Main Event last weekend.
This led to an emotional moment for Punk and his fans, especially after his Title win at SummerSlam was cut short by Seth Rollins' surprise Money in the Bank cash-in.
However, speaking on the Busted Open Podcast, the tag team legend mentioned that though there was nothing negative about the win, it didn't feel like a big moment.
"Listen, everything went fine. Everything was good; everything worked out. No problems. They put the championship on Punk. There’s no negative to what they did. But it just didn’t feel like a big deal. Yes, the fans were happy; yes, the place popped. But it just didn’t feel like a win that really, really mattered. It felt like a win because they had to do something based on what happened to Seth. And I think subconsciously that’s in the back of everybody’s minds,” he said.John Cena's last opponent leaked? Bully mentioned that the babyface vs. babyface dynamic of the match didn't help either.
"It felt like this moment was to come down to him and Seth Rollins again. We never expected the injury, and then this to come down to Jey vs. Punk, two babyfaces. Two guys that kinda like each other. So there wasn’t that. I mean, it was a good wrestling match," he added. You can watch the video below:
In Bully's opinion, Jey Uso acting heelish would have created a challenge for CM Punk, making his Championship win a little more special.
CM Punk got ambushed by Logan Paul on RAW
CM Punk started off RAW by mentioning that he is looking forward to challenges from stars in the locker room. This led to Logan Paul making his way to the ring to confront Punk.
Later in the night, Punk teamed up with Jey Uso to take on The Vision. The match ended in a double countout as the stars got involved in a brawl outside the ring.
The Bronsons gained the upper hand before Punk fought them off with a steel chair. However, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker made their way back to the ring, and Logan Paul made a surprise appearance, seemingly siding with the new World Champion.
However, The Maverick ended up knocking out CM Punk with brass knuckles and confirming his alliance with the Paul Heyman-led faction.
