Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh had more NFL rushing yards than Bo Jackson

It's one of those stats that sounds impossible:

Jim Harbaugh finished his NFL career with more rushing yards than Bo Jackson.

First, the numbers:

  • Jim Harbaugh: 2,787 rushing yards
  • Bo Jackson: 2,782 rushing yards

The obvious caveat is that Jackson had a brutal career-ending injury. He clearly was a superstar rusher.

Harbaugh, a QB, did average 5.0 yards per carry in his career, which is pretty impressive. He ran for 18 career TDs.

Jackson averaged 5.4 yards per carry in his career and had 16 rushing touchdowns.

What's this stat got to do with anything? Nothing, really, besides that it's circulating on social media recently.

But it's still a funny one to look at.

On the one hand, it reminds that Harbaugh was a gritty, playmaking quarterback at times in his NFL career.

It also reminds of how much of a bummer the quick end to Jackson's football career was.

And in the end, it creates quite the bit of trivia.
