A huge WWE return is reportedly planned for 2026. The promotion is currently building towards the first anniversary show of WWE RAW on Netflix on January 5, 2026.
According to a new report from Post Wrestling, WWE is reportedly planning on bringing a major PLE back to Puerto Rico. Backlash 2023 took place in Puerto Rico, and the promotion will be returning next year. Post Wrestling's report revealed that Backlash 2026 is expected to air live from San Juan, Puerto Rico, on May 9, 2026.
A source with access to an internal calendar for the company informed the publication of the date of Backlash 2026. The PLE will take place three weeks following WrestleMania 42 next year.
Popular musician Bad Bunny defeated Damian Priest in a Street Fight at Backlash 2023 and got an incredible response from the crowd in attendance at the PLE. Bad Bunny will be performing at the halftime show at the NFL Super Bowl in 2026. Damian Priest is in a relationship with NXT star Lola Vice, and she shared a heartfelt update with the former Judgment Day star earlier today on social media.
Damian Priest comments on Bad Bunny's WWE status
SmackDown star Damian Priest recently commented on Bad Bunny potentially returning to the promotion.
The Archer of Infamy is currently in a rivalry with Aleister Black on the blue brand. Speaking with TMZ Sports earlier this year, the former World Heavyweight Champion discussed the possibility of the popular star returning to the ring and noted that he was always welcome in WWE.
"Whenever he's ready. That's up to him, as far as when he's ready physically and mentally. Easy for me to say next week, but he has to be actually ready, and I know the way he is, he'd wanna do it properly and train properly. So, whenever he's down, he's always welcome," said Damian Priest.Credit where it's due for Damian Priest. He was trusted to lead the match with Bad Bunny whilst protecting him in the process. Backlash 2023 was his WrestleMania.
Damian Priest reunited with his former Judgment Day stablemate, Rhea Ripley, on the December 12 edition of SmackDown in a mixed tag team match. Priest and Ripley (The Terror Twins) defeated Aleister Black and Zelina Vega earlier this month on the blue brand. Only time will tell if Bad Bunny makes an appearance at Backlash 2026 next year in Puerto Rico.
