The Philadelphia 76ers made changes to the roster during the All-Star break, which involved signing veteran guard Cameron Payne.
He is an experienced player who has played with all kinds of players, which makes his praise for rookie standout VJ Edgecombe even better.
Payne loves what he has seen from Edgecombe
Among the many standout rookies, Edgecombe is a fantastic player because of his willingness to compete. He is one of the scrappiest rookies in the class, who will do anything to help get the win.
At the same time, he has star qualities because he can create his own shot, and his ability to take over games is already apparent. That is a special characteristic to have, especially as a young player.

Payne has taken notice because he already knew Edgecombe when he was set to sign with the 76ers again. He has watched Philly's games throughout the season, and it is hard not to be impressed with Edgecombe when that happens.
"He's a dog, man. I’ve been watching from afar, but actually being up close, that man is a dog. He plays well and attacks the rim. I mean, it kind of looks like I've been in the league a little bit longer than him, just being a rookie," Payne said ahead of his return with the 76ers.
Payne will probably play sparingly, but he will be a key figure in the locker room. He is one of the most beloved players behind the scenes, so he and Edgecombe could possibly form a bond that will help the rookie grow.
