New Knicks forward Jeremy Sochan gets honest about what led to his exit from the Spurs

Jeremy Sochan was once considered a promising player for the San Antonio Spurs. He was the hardworking player that any team can appreciate, and at the same time, he had potential as a defender and playmaker.

Unfortunately, Sochan's offensive woes, especially with his shooting, became an issue for San Antonio. After playing quite regularly in his first few seasons, he fell out of the rotation this season. This led to him getting waived and signing with the New York Knicks.

Sochan opens up about his San Antonio exit

Sochan is now with the Knicks, where he could be a fantastic contributor. Of course, he would have to earn his minutes because the Knicks have some of the most impressive depth in the league.

However, Sochan is the type of player who will work as hard as possible to earn his spot. He did so with the Spurs, but unfortunately, the ship sailed when the coaching staff deemed him a liability.

Sochan himself knew that he was not progressing with the Spurs, so getting waived was a long time coming. He talked about what led to his exit, which was apparent to most Spurs fans.

"No real opportunity in my opinion. It is what it is. It's a deep team. Maybe I didn't see eye-to-eye with the coach. I'm just blessed to be somewhere to grow," Sochan said ahead of the second half of the NBA season.

This move opened the door for him to join the Knicks, which could be a jackpot move for the Eastern Conference contenders. Mitch Johnson might not have been the best fit for him, but Mike Brown could find a way to get the most out of Sochan.
