Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James didn’t mince his words about his preparation for the 2025-26 campaign.
With Luka Doncic entering his first full season with the Lakers, James comprehended the importance of putting his best foot forward to improve the franchise’s championship odds with its new-look roster.
James revealed that he gave up chocolate cookies before the start of the year, prompting WNBA star Caitlin Clark to send James an 11-word message.
“I’d rather retire than do this,” Clark stated. “This is why he’s him.”
Clark certainly has a point. It isn’t easy for a player to give up his favorite dessert to ensure he’s in the best possible physical shape for an upcoming campaign.
It’s even more impressive when you factor in James’ advanced age (41). James could easily use his age as an excuse to do whatever he pleases off the court, even if it could negatively affect his production on the hardwood.
Instead, the 22-time All-Star vowed to do what’s necessary to set himself up for success this season. So far, James is averaging 22.0 points, 7.1 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game with the 33-21 Lakers, shooting 50.2% from the field and 30.5% from beyond the arc.
It’s safe to assume that the public’s respect level for James increased after his latest confession.
