Buffalo Bills named perfect trade destination for $54 million NFC safety

The Buffalo Bills are 5-2, and yet they are multiple issues that will prevent them from getting to the Super Bowl if they don't get addressed. One of, and perhaps the most glaring issue, is that their defense is bad.

The opponents they've faced have largely masked that - see Spencer Rattler, Andy Dalton, and Justin Fields. However, in games against Lamar Jackson and Drake Maye, they've been carved up. Because of this, Ben Solak of ESPN labels Budda Baker as a perfect trade candidate for the Bills.

"The play of Rapp and Cole Bishop has left the Bills' defense highly vulnerable against third-level runs and intermediate passes," Solak writes. "Coach Sean McDermott is always reticent to introduce new players to his defense, but a swing for the fences is necessary. As the Cardinals' season falls apart, the 29-year-old Baker might finally get the trade he requested in 2023 - though he signed an extension that makes it trickier."

The addition of Baker, or any quality safety for that matter, would drastically improve Buffalo's defense, but they can't stop there. They also need a boundary receiver who defenses fear, which they currently do not have.

The hypothetical additions of Baker and Jakobi Meyers/Rashid Shaheed/Calvin Ridley would get them back to being the best version of themselves - a team that can hurt you on both sides of the ball.
