Buddy Matthews shares personal update amid AEW absence

Buddy Matthews has turned heads online after sharing a personal update amid his ongoing hiatus from AEW.

The last time Buddy Matthews appeared in AEW was at Grand Slam: Australia in February. On that show, the Best Kept Secret faced Kazuchika Okada for his Continental Championship. However, the 37-year-old injured his ankle during his entrance, and although he finished the match, the injury was severe enough to require surgery. Since then, Matthews has been recovering, and there has been no solid update on when he can return to the ring. During his recovery, the Hounds of Hell member has been active on social media, updating fans about developments in his personal life mostly through videos that showcased his extensive training methods.

A few hours ago, Matthews posted another workout video on Instagram that also featured his wife, Rhea Ripley. In the video, the duo carries out various arm exercises. Moreover, Matthews also captioned the post with an inspirational message.

AEW star Buddy Matthews has built a gym with his wife, Rhea Ripley

Buddy Matthews and WWE superstar Rhea Ripley have been married since June 2024. Despite working for rival promotions, the Eradicator and Matthews have managed to maintain their relationship by consistently supporting each other on social media. Recently, the couple took a big step together by opening a new gym.

The Best Kept Secret announced the same thing on Instagram with a photo of him and Ripley posing, along with the following message:

"We did a little something…. We built a gym! First workout picture to commemorate the occasion!" Matthews wrote.

Since both Ripley and Matthews are avid fitness enthusiasts, creating a new workout area seems only fitting for the couple.
