On WWE RAW after Saturday Night's Main Event, Rey Mysterio made his return and confronted Dominik Mysterio. The Dirty Dom claims to be The King of Luchadors, but The Master of 619 has no interest in agreeing with this statement.

Even during this promo, the late great Eddie Guerrero's name was mentioned, leading to a physical altercation where Rey also connected a 619. In this article, let's look at three reasons why Rey Mysterio returned to the red brand.

#3. To set up a title match against Dominik Mysterio at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2025

Rey Mysterio asks Dominik if he really thinks he’s better than Eddie Guerrero. Dominik replies, “you keep my father’s name out your mouth.” #WWERAW

This year, Survivor Series is set to take place live on November 29 at Petco Park in San Diego, CA, which is also the hometown of Rey Mysterio. Given this, WWE will likely feature the veteran in a massive match.

His confrontation with The Judgment Day member could have been done to set the stage for an IC Title match at Survivor Series. Dominik claims to be the greatest luchador, and the only way to shut him up is by defeating him.

Due to this, Rey might soon challenge Dom Dom after their latest interaction, leading to a title bout between them.

#2. It's been a long time since Rey Mysterio appeared on television

Rey Mysterio has not appeared on WWE television for the past few months. The Master of 619 has been on hiatus from the Stamford-based promotion. He last appeared in a non-WWE TV show when Dominik won the AAA Mega Title.

With Rey already medically cleared to return, WWE may have preferred to bring him back on Monday Night RAW after SNME. This also made the aftermath show more worth watching, as it at least included a surprise comeback.

#1. To plant more seeds for Dominik Mysterio's exit from The Judgment Day

Frustrated by the return of Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio confronted The Judgment Day members backstage. Dom Dom was unhappy that neither Finn Balor nor JD McDonagh was there to help the IC Champion against his real-life father.

In response, Balor expressed his anger about not being invited to Dominik Mysterio's celebration party, as he seemingly wanted all the spotlight for himself. This rising tension is seemingly another reason behind Rey Mysterio's return.

In the coming weeks, Rey will eventually become the reason for the growing distance between The Judgment Day members, leading to Dominik's exit from the group.
