Browns new HC Todd Monken reveals he somehow hasn't met Myles Garrett yet

1 hour ago 3

The Cleveland Browns have made a lot of changes to their organization since the end of the 2025 season, firing Kevin Stefanski and bringing in Todd Monken to be the new head coach.

He beat out defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz for the HC job, which then led to Schwartz's very public departure from the team. And the fallout might be impacting Myles Garrett.

During offseason OTAs, Monken was asked a very straightforward question: if he's met with Garrett yet in person since coming on as the Browns HC. His answer, shared by Ari Meirov of The 33rd team on Twitter/x, was an alarming, "No."

Browns HC Todd Monken hasn't met Myles Garrett yet

This quote from Monken was a very straightforward answer, but it's not a good one. The Browns, somehow, haven't had Garrett and Monken meet yet.

Coming off what might be the single-greatest defensive season ever, with 23 sacks in one year, Garrett hasn't met his new head coach yet.

Monken was hired by the Browns all the way back at the end of January. And yet, nearly four months later, two of the most important people for the Browns have yet to meet.

While Monken isn't going to be coaching up the defensive side of the ball, so it's not the worst-case scenario, it's still a bit alarming that the Browns' best player hasn't met the head coach yet.

Garrett appeared to be disappointed with Monken winning the head coach job over Schwartz, and while it's unknown if that's the reason for the two not meeting, it's hard not to see the potential connection.

It's strange that the Browns' new head coach has yet to meet the best player on the team, and maybe the best defensive player in franchise history, nearly four months into his tenure as head coach.

Hopefully, this lack of face-to-face meeting between Monken and Garrett winds up as a nothing-burger; otherwise, there are going to be some difficult questions for Monken beyond just the hotly contested quarterback battle.
