Browns may name Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders QB2 behind Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett

The minicamp rollercoaster in Berea brought in a mixed bag of reactions for Shedeur Sanders. Some reports believe Sanders may just be getting strung along, despite the commendable performance he gave in the OTAs.

Granted, that's one way to look at it.

However, Sanders made a "significant stride" through his minicamp performance, per Mary Kay Cabot's report.

Based on that, Browns analyst Earl De Pearl sees Sanders having a real shot at becoming a "backup QB" to the season's starter.

"When you and me both know that this man has the most upside of any other quarterback on this roster, there is no way that Shedeur Sanders is not entering training camp, for me, as QB No. 2 on this Browns depth chart," Da Pearl pointed out on Cleveland radio station 92.3 The Fan.

Some might say Sandes becoming Browns QB2 might still be a long shot, but his performance this minicamp should justify his spot on the final 53-man roster, if he gets one, of course.

"From everybody that I respect and I trust in this game, has said that Shedeur Sanders has looked phenomenal in this offseason portion," Da Pearl further argued.

"You can spin it however you want to spin it, they are in pads. But when we are talking about a guy learning a system and being able to process what he's learning and be able to transfer that into success on the football field — (regardless) if he's running with the ones, twos, threes to the fours — when you are doing what's asked of you and you are doing it well and earning the respect of the veterans... it says a lot."

As of now, Sanders has reportedly been practicing with either the backup players or with the ones further down the depth chart.

Whatever of the two options, a backup QB or no spot on the 53-man roster, the future brings for Sanders won't come as much of a surprise after the utter uncertainty surrounding the QB.
