Browns analyst calls Shedeur Sanders' situation 'weird, strange and dysfunctional'

The Cleveland Browns are not known as the most functional franchise.

After dropping to 2-6 on the season with a loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, there have been some loud criticisms surrounding the offense, specifically Dillon Gabriel.

The former Oregon Duck has been scrutinized for his play in recent weeks, and Browns fans are wondering why head coach Kevin Stefanski refuses to give Cleveland's other rookie quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, a chance to prove he's got what it takes to play in the NFL.

Aaron Goldhammer questions Shedeur Sanders' situation

ESPN Cleveland analyst Aaron Goldhammer was speaking on the Browns quarterback situation on his radio show and had questions surrounding Sanders' lack of opportunities.

"There's something going on here that is weird, strange and dysfunctional. Because the answers to the questions and the logic from the moment they drafted him [Sanders] to right now, there are all these incongruities and inconsistencies," said Goldhammer.

"Why didn't he get more reps and opportunities in training camp when he's the more talented guy and Dillon Gabriel is the less talented guy? It's more than meets the eye, it's Browns dysfunction at its finest."

It's certainly something Browns fans have been asking themselves when Gabriel was first named the backup behind Sanders.

In six appearances this year, the former Heisman finalist has not impressed on the field. He's completed 59.9% of his passes for 702 yards, averaging 4.9 yards per throw.

It's unclear if the former Colorado Buffalo would fare any better in Cleveland's poor offense, but at this point, it seems like Browns fans would take anything over what they've seen the last few weeks.
