Broncos rumor could lead to splash signing of Seahawks or Jaguars free agent

The Denver Broncos are reportedly expected to make a big signing at the running back position this offseason.

That rumor comes from CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, who mentions Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker and Jacksonville Jaguars rusher Travis Etienne as possible options for Denver.

"The Broncos are poised to make a splash at running back next week," Jones said. "The Broncos would be an obvious landing spot for Kenneth Walker III, but the team could opt for Travis Etienne as a more affordable running back."

Jones adds that the Broncos were the reason why the New York Jets placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on running back Breece Hall.

It's no surprise the Broncos are interested in adding a running back, as the team will see J.K. Dobbins hit the open market on March 11 and the team needs to add help next to RJ Harvey.

Dobbins played well for the Broncos in 2025, but as has been the case often in his career, he succumbed to injury once again.

With Hall off the market, Walker and Etienne are the two best pending free agents at running back.

Walker is coming off a season in which he broke the 1,000-yard mark on the ground and added 282 receiving yards. The Seahawks rusher was also a playoff hero, resulting in him winning the Super Bowl MVP.

Meanwhile, Etienne had another strong season of production, breaking the 1,000-yard mark for the third time in his career. Etienne also added 36 catches for 292 receiving yards.

Walker is no doubt the more explosive back, but Etienne offers more as a pass-catcher and blocker, and he has a superior history of production.
