Broncos lose 14.5 sack DT to Titans on huge $64 million contract

The Denver Broncos have some interesting free agent options to consider this offseason. With needs at linebacker, interior defensive line, running back, and tight end, the Broncos can make some moves this offseason.

But, the most notable move through the first hours of the NFL legal tampering period is not a signing for the Broncos, but a player that they're losing.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that the Broncos are losing interior defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers to the Tennessee Titans on a massive $63 million contract over the next three seasons.

Broncos lose John Franklin-Myers to Titans

"BREAKING: The Titans are signing former Broncos DT John Franklin-Myers to a 3 year $63M deal with $42M guaranteed, per sources," Schultz reports.

This is a big deal for the Broncos' veteran defensive tackle. Over the past two seasons with the Broncos, Franklin-Myers has 14.5 sacks, 65 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and 33 quarterback hits in 31 games.

Losing Franklin-Myers to the Titans is a tough blow for the Broncos, and their interior defensive line spot is now a sneaky important need for Denver to address this offseason.

But, with this addition for the Titans comes some good news, as the Broncos will now likely land a strong compensatory draft pick in the 2027 NFL Draft for losing Franklin-Myers to Tennessee.

While his departure from the roster stings, the Broncos do have a strong group along the defensive line, even with this deal. But the compensatory pick they'll likely receive will make up for this tough loss.

The writing was on the wall for Franlin-Myers' time in Denver coming to an end. He will now reunite with Robert Saleh in Tennessee, as the Broncos pivot to other options along the interior of the defensive line this offseason.
