Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers took on the New York Knicks on Christmas Day. Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, they couldn't handle the Knicks and suffered a 126-124 loss. Mitchell tried to put on a show with his 34-point performance, but it wasn't enough.

The six-time All-Star tried to impress is fiance, Coco Jones, during the game. The singer-songwriter sat courtside at Madison Square Garden to show her support for Mitchell. During the game, the 6-foot-2 guard threw down a two-handed alley-oop jam from Darius Garland.

After his dunk, Mitchell approached Jones' area and let her know that he only dunks when she's watching the game.

“I ain’t dunk in like three months. I only dunk when she’s here,” Mitchell said.

After the Cavaliers lost, Jones comforted the star player. She approached her from her seat and kissed him.

The couple dated for two years and announced their engagement in July. They haven't shared a lot of their relationship with the public. However, they took a vacation over the summer to recharge, according to their representatives. During their time away, Mitchell and Jones confirmed on Instagram the next step in their relationship.

NBA insider Grant Afseth claims that there have been discussions on Darius Garland's desire to leave Donovan Mitchell's shadow. Despite his success with Mitchell as a co-star, there have been reports that Garland aspires to be the team's greatest player and eventually take the helm.

“The intel from some NBA teams is a perception that Garland would like to run his own team again at some point, as opposed to being in a more complementary role next to Mitchell,” Afseth wrote.“Darius is the safest option on the trade market for a team seeking a point guard upgrade,” he continued. “There are teams who think he can handle more being put on his plate.”

With the Cavaliers' struggles, Donovan Mitchell could deal with more trade rumors moving forward.
