WWE Superstar Oba Femi is at the receiving end of an imminent main roster push. The Stamford-based promotion hasn’t been subtle about the move in the past few weeks, and this week’s episode of SmackDown saw yet another tease.
The Friday Night show saw the hype package for Oba Femi air this week, showcasing the dominating in-ring prowess of the two-time NXT Champion. The hype package was also showcased on the big screen on the December 26, 2025, episode of SmackDown.
While this could signal that The Ruler will move to the blue-branded roster, the hype package was also featured on RAW. On top of it, Femi remains the reigning NXT Champion. The 27-year-old hasn’t fought any televised matches since the December 13, 2025, edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Oba Femi has the breakout potential of a former two-time Intercontinental Champion
According to a Bodyslam report, WWE believes Oba Femi will be a long-term main eventer. Reportedly, management is predicting The Ruler to blow up the way Bron Breakker did and to showcase a similar trajectory on the main roster.
“If Bron’s current push and trajectory tells you anything, it’s that Oba Femi will be a special, special case and main event player for years to come.”Breaker is a former two-time Intercontinental Champion. He defeated Sami Zayn to win the title for the first time at the 2024 SummerSlam. He was dethroned by Jey Uso, but regained possession of the title within just a month in October 2024.
The Dog of WWE lost the IC Championship to Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 41, but instead of losing his momentum, he joined The Vision and became more prominent.
Now, he will enter his first world title match and face CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on January 5, 2026. It would be interesting to see if Femi also enjoys similar or greater success in the main roster.
