Sebastian Korda will square off against Valentin Vacherot in the first round of the Brisbane International 2026.

Korda commenced the 2025 season with a runner-up finish at the Adelaide International. That didn't translate to a deep run at the Australian Open, where he went out in the second round. He wrapped up the early hardcourt swing with a quarterfinal loss to Novak Djokovic at the Miami Open.

The clay season wasn't that memorable for Korda. A third-round finish at the French Open was his most noteworthy result. He didn't compete for nearly three months after that due to an injury. He made the semifinals of the Winston-Salem Open upon his return, though he lost in the first round of the US Open a few days later.

Korda played some of his best tennis towards the end of the season. He made the quarterfinals in Tokyo and Stockholm, and concluded the year with a semifinal showing at the Hellenic Championship in Athens.

Vacherot wasn't even on anyone's radar for most of 2025. However, he made headlines with his impressive run at the Shanghai Masters. He came through the qualifying rounds, and then beat the likes of Alexander Bublik, Holger Rune, and Djokovic to reach the final.

Vacherot beat his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in the summit clash to claim the biggest title of his career. He then reached the last eight of the Paris Masters, proving that his run in Shanghai was no fluke.
